Good
Shepherd Home
for Children
Bamenda,
Cameroon
Founded by Sr. Jane Mankaa and the
Benedictine Sisters of Bethany, the Good Shepherd Home is dedicated to
educating and caring for children of the streets in Cameroon. Many of
these children have lost their parents to the AIDS epidemic. The Home
provides a safe environment for them to grow into healthy young men and
women.
In addition to the two dozen children who
live at the Good Shepherd Home, the Sisters sponsor many more children
from the surrounding area, providing them with food, clothing and the
education they would not otherwise receive.
Work continues at the Home, and there are
many more children who need sponsorships. Donations of any size make a
tremendous difference in these children's live. 100% of the funds
donated are used for their designated purpose. Donation

Here are some special
ways to help:
-
Sponsor
a child for $25 a month. This will house, feed, clothe and
educate a child. more
-
Buy
a cow for $300. Cows provide milk and meat for the children.
When the herd becomes large enough, the cows can be sold for
additional income. more
- Purchase a 1/4 acre of land for
$5,000. A parcel of land next to the Home is available and is
required for future expansion and security. more
Calvary Church, along with the Community
of St. John the Baptist and several other churches in our area, supports
the life-changing work at Good Shepherd. Sr. Jane, who had lived and
worked at the Community of St. John the Baptist, met Calvary's Lillian
Cochran at a Diocesan Convention. After learning of Sr. Jane's desire to
start the orphanage, Lillian proposed that Calvary help as well.
Calvarians have helped Good Shepherd purchase land, start a herd of
cattle and care for additional children. For more details on our
project, contact Lillian Cochran at (908) 273 3919 or at
