A Broad Spirituality
I became involved with the Stephen Ministry
because I was asked. I had been involved in pastoral care before and
thought this would be a good thing to do. I am interested in one-on-one
ministry. Listening is a wonderful thing that you can do for people and
the Stephen Ministry is very well grounded spiritually and
psychologically. I’ve also been president of Women of Calvary and active
with the first outreach committee.
I feel very strongly
about Calvary. When meditation became more popular as a spiritual
connection Rev. Bill Strain and Rev. Bob Morris brought it into
Christianity rather than just leaving it in the secular area. Spiritually
this means a great deal to me. This was something I related to. There were
churches that disapproved of it but they embraced it. It’s important to be
in the church, but also important that the church doesn’t limit me to just
one expression. It’s great that Calvary continues to partner with
Interweave.
Supporting Calvary
financially is important. I love Calvary. I feel like I have to support
it. Otherwise is can’t be there for me and for others. Not only for our
parish; but because Calvary also reaches out into the wider community.
As Episcopalians, we’re
not always comfortable talking about things. I’ve become more aware of the
spiritual feelings of people I didn’t know were there. God works in the
world through people and we’re the people. Let God act through you in a
positive way.
