Because I Feel Blessed
I think I was chosen to get involved with
Calvary. I had stopped working full time and was freelancing from home. I
didn’t think I had a hole to fill, but was asked to join the Vestry. So I
joined to see how it worked. On the Vestry I saw a need and places to use
my talents. I had been on the taking end with the Friday parents Bible
study and this was my chance to give back.
One of my projects was
the booklet, In God’s Service. It is a compilation of all of
Calvary’s activities and outreach. It was just amazing to see the scope of
what we do. I am currently chair of Calvary in Action (CiA), Calvary’s
outreach committee. As part of our sesquicentennial celebration last year,
we decided to celebrate the incredible giving of time and talent of our
parishioners throughout the year. In canvassing our 64 volunteer
organizations, we found that more than 700 volunteers had contributed
54,000 hours in time and talent during the year. That’s 6.16 years of
giving.
I give to Calvary because
I feel incredibly blessed. My pledge is what I can give at the moment. I
feel it’s the least I can do.
