Leading J2A
I’m a group leader for the J2A program. We
have 15 and 16 year olds that will be confirmed this year. Every Sunday
night we meet for worship, dinner and a classroom activity. We also have
group projects and a trip each year. When Laurie Matarazzo asked if I
would be interested, I accepted because working with teens is something I
feel I can do. I’m comfortable dealing with the issues that they face.
When we gather on Sunday nights, I work with them to create an atmosphere
of kindness and acceptance where all can model their behavior based on
Christian ideals.
I believe that financial
commitment is one of the things we do to be a part of the church. I
support Calvary because I’m a part of it. I also feel better about the
money I give to Calvary than the money that I give to other charities.
Church is one of the last places where you can surround yourself with
people who are trying to do the right thing for its own sake rather than
for personal recognition. That means a lot.
