Part of My Life
I like going to church. It’s part of my life.
While I was working, I wasn’t very involved with Calvary. But after I
retired, I noticed they needed volunteers for Interfaith Hospitality
Network. Bebe Lee went with me the first time. It was hard because it was
working with the homeless, but I threw myself into it, and I am grateful
to Calvary for supporting it.
My husband George and I
helped teach Sunday school. Even though our daughter is grown we believe
it’s important to support the youth program. We’ve also always done
something with Interweave. I love the Saturday Bible class that Bob Morris
teaches. At Calvary, there are so many opportunities for advanced levels
of spirituality for adults.
Many of us came from
somewhere else. You move here. How do you make friends? I think Calvary is
a friendly church that works to help us connect with one another. I’ve
made many friends through our fellowship suppers.
What does pledging mean
for me? I’m glad that Calvary is there. We have to support it, or it
wouldn’t be. It bugs me when people want the church to be there for
weddings or baptisms, but don’t want to support it. I want to feel that
I’m doing something for the continuity of the church.
