As of July 18, the Search Committee is very pleased to report that we have narrowed the list of rector candidates down to 3 finalists following a detailed review of over 270 potential applicants. We are very excited about the qualifications of the candidates and feel they truly meet the requirements listed in the “Rector We Seek” section of the Calvary Profile.  We have submitted these names to the Bishop and will now begin a detailed reference checking process for these candidates in parallel with the background and other checks to be completed by the Bishop and his staff.  We look forward to the completion of this process and selection of the rector by the end of summer.  

On June 5th, Tom Killian, Chair of Search Committee addressed a full house at the Adult Forum to provide an update on the search process. He thanked the Profile Committee for the good work they completed on the profile based on the results of the questionnaire distributed to the congregation last year. These results were used to develop the "Rector we Seek" section found on page 6 of the profile. He also thanked Adele Haley for her contribution in finalizing the profile which has now been printed and posted on Calvary's website.

The Search Committee has now met 9 times to prepare Calvary's profile report and the Community Portfolio Discernment questionnaire and evaluate the candidates. To recognize this extraordinary service, Tom identified each member of the Search Committee in the presentation he distributed and thanked them for all their efforts.

As more fully explained in the slides, the Search Committee has considered over 270 candidates from over 85 Dioceses in the US and 3 foreign countries. We have now narrowed the list to 36. We expect to narrow this today (June 5th) to less than 18 and further narrow the list by June 19th to approximately 10. We expect to identify final candidates in July and formally call the new rector in August.

We have been in close communication with Canon Jacobs and the Bishop of the Diocese of Newark and expect to coordinate the review of candidates over the next several weeks to keep our process on track. We are aware that any improvements to the rectory need to be completed before the new rector moves
in and the Jr. Warden, Sarah Meiring, has formed a committee to oversee these efforts.

Overall, the Search Process is ahead of schedule and we remain optimistic that we will complete the process in August. Please let Tom Killian know if you have any questions or concerns.
