Hosts Summit's 15th Thanksgiving Dinner
Parish Hall, Noon - 2:30 PM
At noon on November 26th,
Calvary's Parish Hall will once again be a place of fine food and
fellowship - as we open our doors for the community's Thanksgiving
Dinner. And this year we are continuing several new wrinkles from last
year's event.
- We are continuing the outreach program
where we prepare the Thanksgiving meal at Calvary and deliver it to
approximately 35 people at Apostle's House in Newark. We welcome
volunteers to assist with preparing and transporting food and assisting
with serving at Apostle's House.
- As we have limited oven capacity at
Calvary to cook the extra turkeys for Apostle's House, we ask for
volunteers to assist by preparing three turkeys and delivering them to
the Church on Thanksgiving morning by 10:30 AM.
- The regular dinner follows our 15-year
tradition. All provisions are donated by individuals and organizations
in Summit and from around the area. The food preparation and cooking,
serving, waiting tables, and cleaning up is all done by volunteers from
many of Summit's religious organizations.
- The menu, served until from Noon to 2:30 PM consists of a
traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey and all the trimmings,
including apple and pumpkin pie donated by a local bakery.
There are lots of ways to
participate. If you would like to donate food, call us for suggestions.
Donations of cash are turned into the things we need. Time - a one-hour
shift - is a wonderful means of sharing God's grace in our own lives and
return on the investment is beyond calculation. And perhaps best of all
- come join us for dinner. It's almost free - your entrance fee is a
smile and a warm heart.
