Antioch
 Calvary's “Vocal Ensemble in
Residence,”
Antioch, is an eleven-member ensemble will be rehearsing at Calvary and
presenting four concerts per year on its own series. This group was
formerly headquartered at Trinity Church, Wall Street. After the tragedy
of 9/11, when Trinity Church was shut down for several months, they
asked permission to move, temporarily, to Calvary for rehearsals. They
were warmly welcomed at Calvary, and they soon asked permission to
become a resident ensemble here. The vestry was very agreeable, as was
the organist/choirmaster.
Antioch has performed at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South
Carolina, and is becoming widely known as an outstanding group of
singers. They will use the Calvary name on their website and publicity,
and in turn Calvary will benefit from the exposure given to the church
by the increasing fame of Antioch. One of Calvary’s professional
soloists is a member of Antioch, and other of their members have
performed on the Calvary Chorale Series. They are in the process of
recording a CD of Christmas music, have acquired an agent, and plan to
increase their exposure and performance venues.
